ULAB observed National Mourning Day
University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) organized a discussion session along with documentary screening titled “Chiranjib Bangabandhu” for commemorating National Mourning Day 2016 on August 14 at its own campus in Dhanmondi.
ULAB observed death anniversary of the Father of Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman remembering Bangabandhu and members of his family who were brutally murdered on 15 August 1975.
Barrister Fazle Noor Taposh, MP was present as the chief guest. In his speech, he highlighted the self-sacrificing life of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and his family members. Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and his family knew that they must give their blood for this country. They were always ready to give their lives for this country. This is not only great loss of Bangladesh, this is also loss of the world, he added. ULAB Professor Emeritus Rafiqul Islam delivered welcome speech at the programme.
ULAB Library organized a day long Book Exhibition on Bangabandhu on the occasion of National Mourning Day 2016. Total 80 title books were displayed in the exhibition. There was also a photo exhibition on Bangabandhu in the ULAB premises.
ULAB Vice Chancellor Professor Imran Rahman delivered the closing speech. Member of Board of Trustees Dr. Kazi Anis Ahmed; Kazi Inam Ahmed; ULAB Provost, Professor Brian Shoesmith; Pro-Vice Chancellor Professor H.M. Jahirul Haque; Registrar Lt. Col. Foyzul Islam (Retd.); faculty members; admin members and students of ULAB were present in the programme.
